From the 1st April 2025 stamp duty rates will be changing, here’s what you need to know…
👉🏼 First time buyer stamp duty exemption will drop from £425,000 to £300,000, meaning if you’re buying a £400,000 as a first time buyer it will cost you an additional £10,000
👉🏼 For home movers paying between £125,000 and £250,000, houses will be subject to a 2% stamp duty charge, meaning buying a £250,000 home will cost buyers an additional £5000
👉🏼 People buying a second home have to pay an additional 2% on top of the 3% stamp duty currently charged (this has already come into force)
If you’re thinking of selling, you should consider doing so sooner rather than later as these changes could lead to buyers having to reduce their offers if the transaction goes over 1st April 2025!!
